Profit Margin Nazis

Looks like Matthew Cunningham-Cook beat me to it, and I’m glad because the weather is nice and I’m a fundamentally lazy individual. For Jacobin he reviews and recommends ‘Nazi Billionaires: The Dark History of Germany’s Wealthiest Dynasties’ by David de Jong (HarperCollins, 2022) which I am currently reading. Before you call for more sanctions on Russia or China, because you somehow hunger to punish “evil” itself, you might want to read this book and educate yourself about the profitable depths of Nazi evil our society continues to finance, facilitate and foster today.

This book has put a serious crimp in my enjoyment of Oetker’s pizza night…

While I’m recommending books, everyone has read ‘Operation Paperclip: The Secret Intelligence Program That Brought Nazi Scientists to America’ by Annie Jacobsen right? (Published by Little Brown and Company in 2014). Seriously, what are they teaching in school? So, when someone calls Chrystia Freeland a “detestable paperclip” you have no idea what they’re talking about? See, that’s just tragic. I highly recommend that you read it, if only to catch you up on modern Nazi legacy and that very frequently used critical term.

A “must read” for anyone who rejoices in the casual misfortunes of Chrystia Freeland…
