Do Pollsters Dream Of Electric Sheeple?

Late at night, I don’t count sheep – I count regrets. Like a dory hemmed in by kelp, I struggle to free myself from them. They’re not the tragic death bed regrets some might expect. Most in fact revolve around my possible contributions to the cultural and political status quo. Though I can rationalize most of my youthful motivations (flonk, lulz etc) I still can’t easily forgive the way in which I once bit down hard on certain embarrassing political beliefs. Did they give credence to elements of what would become the societal clusterfuck in which we now find ourselves?

Politically I always kept things simple, for years I remained well-informed and voted NDP. (They were a labour and worker’s rights party back then.) Along the way I somehow drifted into the political center and became stupid enough to experience genuine relief when Barack Obama became President. I had gotten so busy with life that I simply stopped questioning things. I wrongly assessed Obama as harmless, professional and thoughtful. On election night, I even remember crossing my fingers and dearly hoping Obama would win. Now, I look back and wonder – who was I? Did I boil frog myself into a political lobotomy? Is that what all of Canada has now done to itself in the wake of the mind-numbing Trudeau era?

Take Trump’s 51st state comments for example. Get real. No one in America will desecrate the hard-earned history of the Star-Spangled Banner to add a star for Benedict Arnold’s Canada. It will NEVER happen. At best, Canada would join the U.S., Canadians would become citizens and Canada itself would become a non-voting resource territory entirely disenfranchised from federal elections. What IS actually happening when Trump calls Canada the 51st state? Trump is using Canada’s irrational outrage to highlight its arrogance. (Katie Simpson really drove that arrogance home this week.) The longer Canadians overreact – the longer Trump will be able to rationalize these high tariffs on Canada. Retaliation only makes things worse. Canada is effectively screwing itself with its own hostile arrogance. And the tariffs, they’re not about fentanyl. They’re about the hegemony of the U.S. dollar and China. China is Canada’s second biggest trading partner and soon Canada will have to choose between the U.S. and China.

That’s a tough choice while Canada is in the depths of a collective mental health crisis. Mark Carney edging up in polls only reflects how Canadians, bamboozled by media manipulation, have taken to making irrational decisions stemming from hatred and fear. Without wanting Poilievre as Prime Minister (I won’t vote for anyone who arms Ukraine or erects a “victims of communism” monument that memorializes Nazis), there are still alternatives to voting for the Liberals. The Rhinoceros Party for example is promising to make “Sorry” the new official motto of Canada and to nationalize bacon, that sounds delicious. The truly funniest part of all this? Delusional Canadian voters who so hate Elon Musk and Trump, are now poised to elect Mark Carney and he’s financially in bed with BOTH of them.

Mark Carney is even in bed with Trump’s son in-law Jared Kushner and the Qatar investors Trump shares with Musk (the ones who helped Musk buy Twitter). It’s more than a threesome, it’s a full Brookfield-Stripe key party and Poilievre himself is holding the bowl with his own Brookfield-Stripe investments. Carney the “green” economist is Carney the exploiter of green “opportunity” who primarily invests in coal and oil pipelines when his own money is on the line. He waxes poetic about his “net zero” goals yet does not believe a word of it. His bottom line is money. He’s a feckless boardroom sleaze. The Daily Show only lauded Mark Carney because Brookfield is courting billionaire Shari Redstone to acquire Paramount Global through National Amusements.

As a Vulture Capitalist Mark Carney plans to feast upon Canada’s corpse until it basically becomes illegal to NOT make him wealthy. (He’s already pitched the idea that it would be illegal to defund the CBC if they get him elected.) His many conflicts of interest glow as bright as white phosphorous in the long dark nights of a collapsing economy. Canada is bleeding out, investments dwindling by the day as U.S. and Chinese tariffs further tap it dry. Carney’s own companies invested in U.S. businesses while simultaneously pulling out of Canada. His people have hidden billions away in Caribbean tax heavens to avoid paying taxes owed to Canada. His Brookfield-Stripe business practices make a regional industry hegemon like Irving seem quaint and wholesome by comparison. Carney represents the final stage of Canada’s palliative period. The fact that he’ll do this while selling out hard to China only makes it funnier. It’s Meng Wanzhou’s revenge, slow and steady with impeccable timing.

Oh but those facts (easy to verify with any AI-assisted search engine) won’t change the minds of any Canadians determined to key the next Tesla they see. Canadian media won’t have the sand to address it. At this point I think only former NDP Tom Mulcair has even dared to address Carney’s tax evasion. In the years that followed my own NDP support, I voted Green until Jenica Atwin stole my vote and I watched Elizabeth May wrap herself in the Ukrainian flag. Months later, I watched the entire Canadian Parliament (including Atwin) give a standing ovation to a Nazi alongside Volodymyr Zelensky and a Nazi’s granddaughter serving as Liberal Finance Minister. That’s when I knew that even my wasted Green vote had been tacit approval for a corrupt system. I vowed to never vote again in any Canadian election. I was effectively radicalized by a raw CPAC feed.

Nothing tops this Canadian political shitshow better than Neil Young, who staggered out of his hole today to endorse Mark Carney. That takes the cake, hypocrisy and boomer stupidity at its finest. Neil Young also endorsed Obama when I shared his sentiment. Flash forward and Obama was drone-assassinating thousands whom he deemed an “imminent threat”. He deported a record number of immigrants (a record Trump likely won’t beat). He split up and “streamlined” the U.S. nuclear arsenal to bypass proliferation treaty limitations while lying about peace. Under Bush-Cheney the torture at Abu Ghraib took place but, under Obama, the role of the CIA was conspicuously suppressed. Worst of all, Obama drove Aaron Swartz to suicide and protected the prosecutors who helped him do it. Obama pretended he was reasonable and humane but, he was just a deep state facilitator, a company man with a corrupt “old school” vice president to keep him in line. We had all been bamboozled by the marketing of the Obama promise much like the CBC now bamboozles us about Mark Carney.

There is NO political party that can represent my values in Canada today. Canada has NO anti-war party, NO party that aims to dismantle federalism or Canada’s Nazi memorials and there is NO anti-monarchist party to remove the Royal yoke. Every major party is also compromised by foreign influence. Canadian elections now boil down to choosing Israel or China. Even the quasi-Libertarian People’s Party of Canada began with an open declaration of their full devotion to Israel. There is no escaping foreign influence so a Canada looking to elect Mark Carney might want to brush up on its Mandarin. I for one welcome our Sino-economic overlords and would immediately invite them to properly repair and maintain the Mactaquac Dam before it collapses and delivers to me a fine piece of waterfront property.

Added: Just to further prove that Liberals are indeed motivated by hatred and fear. This latest Postmedia-Leger poll underlines voter motivations. A whopping 6 out of 10 Liberal voters say they’re motivated by fear. – “Overall, 51 per cent of voters nationally were voting out of hope, while 39 per cent were voting out of fear. Most Conservative, NDP, Green and PPC voters said hope is their primary motivator.” Didn’t Yoda have something to say about actions motivated by fear?

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.
