Defiance is something stupidity can never hope to comprehend from within the fearful concrete structures of cowardice. Andrew Coyne decried pacifists as “the objective allies of fascists” yesterday and it echoed off the walls of Canadian political silos like a dollar store superball. I’m still watching it bounce. The fear tangibly reverberates and soon a million pre-cancerous prostates will synchronize to its beat. Coyne’s narrow-minded warmonger declaration was no surprise nor was it disappointing. He’s always been a fragile and brittle-minded stump with delusions of solid patrician reason. Coyne couldn’t even deal with giving Canadians the right to die with dignity. He desperately wanted to stick to “old-fashioned” Canadian values for the sake of simply institutionalizing sameness. In the “good ol’ days”, people starved bedridden and senile grandparents until their “natural” God-given deaths. Terminally ill individuals used to slowly drown in their own bodily fluids as they gasped in terror for days. Nevermind the suffering, this greatly soothed Coyne’s fears of facing a fiery eternity in Hell for defying the alleged will of God. No, Andrew Coyne preferring destruction and suffering to the slightest challenge of the status quo is nothing new. What was disappointing is Charlie Angus of the NDP wholeheartedly agreeing with Andrew Coyne. It underlines the full erosion of true leftist politics in Canada. Welcome to Canada in 2022 and its Orwellian condemnation of peace. We’ve always been at war with Eurasia and Oceania, if you deny it you’re labelled a servant of fascism by people who, ironically, no longer recognize fascism with their own eyes. Red, Blue, Orange or Green, they all serve up this proxy war with the same pickled onion and twist of lobotomy skewered on a tiny red plastic scimitar. We pacifists in turn shout out basic truths – verifiable facts are not Russian or Chinese propaganda. Peace is not an enemy agenda. If it were, they wouldn’t be enemies in the first place. That’s basic logic. Remember logic? Our ability to see clearly, without partizan politics clouding our judgement, is our singular strength. We don’t call for peace to “appease Putin”. We don’t expose lies to “obey” Xi Jinping. We call for peace because war is a for-profit industry that can only destroy millions of lives. We call for peace in defiance.
