Contrary to popular belief, I’ve never wasted my green days away hating things. Hate is blinding and far too much work while our winters are far too long. In lieu of hate, I prefer to cultivate an ‘out of mind’ amnesia for my more traumatic memories. With age I’ve discovered I can simply forget “bad” things, if I don’t work especially hard to remember them. With discipline I can carefully let connecting synapses die like tiny burned bridges. I then release unwanted memory clusters into the dark void like chunks of Antarctican ice shelf. Neil Hauer may need to develop this skill now that he has departed Ukraine.
Brace yourself, Neil Hauer’s latest CBC report on Ukraine is dark, and for the most part truthful. It uses the header ‘In this war, the ordinary infantryman is nothing’: Ukrainian soldiers in Donbas feel abandoned and outgunned.’ What a delightful surprise! How did it possibly escape CBC’s “Kiev Independent” percolating process? With its quotes from trench soldiers and average Ukrainians it almost makes up for his previous ‘OUN aren’t Nazis mmm’kay?’ article which stank of unscooped Bellingcat litter. It’s telling that the comments are entirely closed this time. The CBC worked overtime to censor all that peace talk and Nazi-bashing in the comments of his last report.
Since he wrote this, the attacks on Neil Hauer have been non-stop. He’s now a full-on “Putin agent” and “orc lover” in the eyes of flag and flower cretins. He has displeased a bloodthirsty crowd of pro-Ukraine social media nimrods who openly prefer lies about successful counterattacks and heroic takedowns than anything even resembling the truth. Some of them have even petitioned to have Neil Hauer censored and declared a “Russian state media” shill. From beloved journalist to Putin’s cabana boy in only a matter of days. All he did was report the truth, as he experienced it.
Had he stayed in Ukraine, I’m almost certain that reality would have caught up to Neil Hauer. He was right on the edge of seeing it with his own eyes. Had he remained he would have gotten that lingering silence which deeply embedded French, Italian, Spanish and Brazilian journalists in Donbas know all too well. It’s the stunned silence of dread realization. Ukraine has been at war since 2014 when the first “far-right” Maidan Nazi put a Ukrainian policeman in his crosshairs. For all the American lamentations about dastardly deplorables and what could have happened on January 6th, that violent “far-right” redneck coup really did happen in Ukraine.
Provoking Putin into war was not “predicted”, it was planned. Arestovich is on record detailing exactly how and why. They wished to gain NATO access to exploit it from within. It’s an extension of the affirmed Maidan ambitions of Ukraine’s “far-right” which envisioned a pact with Poland and other right-wing NATO countries who wish to “dominate” Europe. The evidence is not hard to find. Ukraine has published every intention it ever had. And daily, creeps like Arestovich issue statements which only underline the psychopathy of their ambitions. Only yesterday he shared this gem…
“It won’t happen, but let’s imagine Putin wins. And the 1.5 million-strong Russian army is joined by 500,000 Ukrainians. Everyone has seen how we fight. And all this would then go to Europe. The European toy armies won’t be able to stop a Russian-Ukrainian alliance.”

In case you’re a little drowsy from all the Ukraine flag waving, that’s Arestovich, Zelensky’s second, threatening to overtake Europe’s “toy armies” if Ukraine loses this war. Y’know, after they join forces with Russia. Ever seen Deliverance? This is the scene where “Cowboy” the redneck says about Jon Voight -“He’s got a real pretty mouth, ain’t he?”. Except in this case it’s all of Europe who has a pretty mouth and it’s Arestovich who thinks they would likely squeal like pigs if Ukraine joined Russia. (To tape them to a tree and rape them, as his “far-right” boys have long been known to do to Ukraine’s Romani women.) So the world needs to send him more weapons, or else.
What are you doing Canada? How can Jagmeet and Jenica possibly see all this and still support Chrystia Freeland’s vision of Ukraine? How can you arm this crooked regime of scheming lunatics? They’re killing a whole generation of brilliant young Ukrainians for this war which they intentionally provoked. Zelensky and his administration are buying up billions in real estate. Their supporters exiled in Poland drive armoured sports cars. They are looting Ukraine for every last dollar while teenaged boys and old men cower in trenches. This war is an exploitation scheme and your blind hatred for Russia keeps you from realizing it. You are funding, arming and enriching a near-future Nazi army. Don’t take my word for it – take theirs!
