Captain Fraser’s Apology

Berkeley, California, November 26th, 2024
From the desk of Professor Everett J. Auclair,
Faculty of Sociology, University of California, Berkeley

“Sir, it is with great respect that I write to you this day to rectify a grave injustice…

In 2016 as you may recall, colleagues of this academic community formally declared our support for then Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. It was an unprecedented ovation, one you vehemently opposed in open forum. You not only argued against her record of corruption, you repeatedly warned of Trump’s impending win despite what seemed like overwhelming support for Clinton. With tacit approval, we watched as you were publicly excoriated for this. We wrongly labelled you a “Trump supporter” and strongly condemned you. For this alone, we owe you our sincerest regrets. This type of political persecution should never have emerged in academia or made its way to the court of public opinion. We recognize the harm we inflicted with this virtual act of public flogging.

In the election aftermath of 2024, with Trump’s landslide win in trifecta, it has been made clear to us that the whole of our academic community owes you a collective apology. Your early warnings were constructed with sound fact-based arguments. Your understanding of the evolving American political landscape was uniquely insightful, if not prescient. You were neutral in your scholarly approach yet wholly condemned by us as the mouthpiece of a “lunatic fringe”. We, in fact, were the ones carrying bias and delusion to fruition. We not only failed you as a colleague, we let down all academic tradition when we allowed media-fuelled zeal to arrest our pursuit of knowledge. We not only recognize your expertise today, we shall hereunto endeavour to make formal study of it.

True to your oaths of intellect, peace and civil liberty, you were uniquely rational despite the esoteric style of your delivery. Moreover, you were right when we were wrong. This is the crux of the matter and it can no longer be denied.

Please accept our regrets along with our genuine heartfelt apology.

P.S: The couple who asked for your head got divorced. (He was sued for child support after an affair with their dog walker.) She went full-Zionist and was dismissed from her position after a series of questionable statements directed at Muslim faculty members. The money has dried out. He campaigned for Harris and was summarily fired for misappropriating funds. Their failures were already compounding under Biden, I doubt their fate will improve in the sweeping wave of future Trump/Vance/Trump regimes. Take comfort in knowing that few who wronged you enjoy any true peace of mind today. They remain cretins. In majority, they have humiliated themselves in establishment realms thus fading into irrelevance as you evolve, survive and thrive in sheer defiance of nature’s laws.

I salute you, sir.

Sincerely, your friend and colleague,
E. J. Auclair
