The Changeover

That’s the cue for a changeover. He flips the projectors, the movie keeps right on going, and nobody in the audience has any idea…

So, Donald Trump won the election and again I predicted he would. As I write this, Trump is “live” and about to wrap up his inauguration. This spiel lacks the panache of his 2016 “urban carnage” speech. His new themes are “God”, merit, common sense and America First. He aims to deliver up the America of George Washington – powerful, independent and peaceful. Trump is certain God spared his life and he will govern with the zeal of a chosen one. (This Sparkle Motion administration will tolerate no lack of commitment for Sparkle Motion.) It’s a wild flurry of fury and American optimism.

This will be a very retro administration, drawing from William Poole style immigration laws first written in the 18th century and tariff policies inspired by President William McKinley. In his honour Mount McKinley will once again bear his name (gone is the name “Denali”). Trump will also re-name the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America”. He even invokes “manifest destiny” when waxing poetic about the colonization of space. (It’s worth noting that “manifest destiny” is a censored term in the gaming world as well as YouTube and some social media platforms.)

“… to plant our Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars…”

President Donald J. Trump, inauguration speech, January 20th, 2025

Those of us who saw Trump’s win coming feel far less dread than the crowd outside trembling in the cold today. The right is thrilled for their own win, the left (the true left) is amused to watch a pernicious faux-liberal center suffer this defeat with overdue humiliation. Trump declares that there will only be two genders recognized in America, men and women. (It’s a stark contrast to the multitudinous gender zeitgeist we’ve been force-fed for the past decade.) Trump will also immediately reinstate members of the military who were fired for refusing “the” dreaded vaccine. Their rank and position will be returned to them, with back pay. It’s a moment worth cheering, a fragment of justice.

Canada had better buckle up, this is going to be a bumpy ride. The tariffs aren’t just a whim for Trump. The conditions (clean up your border and the flow of illegal drugs) were not promises. These tariffs are his legacy. With tariffs as methadone Trump hopes to pull America from its globalist economic addiction. He plans to levy tariffs against many countries and has concluded that if he can’t tariff Canada, he likely can’t tariff anyone so, Canada is practice. (The tariffs, once applied, will NOT be reversed.) With tariffs Trump hopes to eliminate income tax for all Americans. Make room on Mount Rushmore if Trump accomplishes this. The U.S. might even chisel his face on the side of the moon.

Why is this happening? Trump knows America is vulnerable. He wants minerals, energy independence and water at any price – immediately. As I’ve explained before, climate change is a done deal. This planet is now a single watering hole used by a variety of sovereign animals. That hole is shrinking fast. In the end there will only be a few large beasts in that hole. These nations will compete for the hole until one begins to harvest minerals and water from space. (At this moment, China is winning that race.) Trump wants to win back that fight and he’ll need Canadian resources to do it. If we don’t join the U.S. it will inevitably take us by force and NO ONE will stop them. Did I mention Trump is taking back the Panama Canal?

Trump today invites everyone to consider the future. The American dream is still a very pretty vision, far more appealing than the dystopian nationalist control of China or the regressive social inequalities of India or Iran. Europe is as corrupt and ineffectual today as it was when America was born. It will not survive to hold that water hole and Canada needs to awaken to this fact. NATO will be neutered if it makes demands on America. The UN serves at America’s leisure and will be dissolved if it hinders her. The “Five Eyes” are blind without America. The G7 is a clutch of ladies who lunch without America. Trump is merely emphasizing what was always true about America. Canadians should consider their options. Those tariffs will end Canada. We cannot survive a trade war with America and making empty threats will seriously backfire. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
