Revised Voight-Kampff

Dear Dr.Voight,

I have been contacted by the ORC in Zürich. They’ll soon be issuing a court order requesting a fully revised Voight-Kampff test (versions 1.22-2.4 are to be decommissioned). Upon reviewing recent reports, they feel a new test is in order. I realize you are strongly resistant to such a suggestion but it’s imperative that you reconsider. When a society that once looked for predictable and healthy emotional reactions in the synthetic no longer looks for it in themselves, it’s time to change the means by which such an evaluation is made. There is no point in further criminalizing the synthetic as they are unable to procreate and clearly pose the lesser danger to society. As things stand, an overwhelming percentage of the human population can now only recognize cognitive empathy. Affective and compassionate forms of empathy are seen as Mercerian myth or the reflexive byproduct of codependency and trauma. A growing segment of the population is now mind blind and dependent on pharmaceutical assistance thus greatly reducing off-world labour pools. We must revise our test so that a more detailed and encompassing test can be applied to the general population. In once again lending our expertise to the process we can help shape what will hopefully honour our original intentions.

P.S: Please set aside our personal history and reconsider Harold. If we don’t agree to this, they’ll be forced to take the project from us.

Respectfully, Dr.Janice Kampff Ph.D,Psy.D, D.S.Sc.
